Our design team work closely with you to design literally anything you can imagine. Our designers are great listeners, ready to sit down with you to sketch your ideas and provide suggestions or advice to help you throughout the design journey. During the initial stages, we can help with an endless variety of tools; ring designs, stone types, shapes, and sizes for you to gain a sense of the perfect balance and overall effect. We also have one of Vancouver’s largest selections of rings in stock already set with stones for you to try on before your design. This will provide you with an even more accurate “real life” impression of any potential ring style on your finger. We also keep a library of a multitude of previous custom designed wax models for you to gain a greater understanding of the process and to review elements of unique custom rings we have created for others.
Our unique services include 3D renderings prepared by our on-staff master CAD designer, presented to you in person and available by email to review and study. We pride ourselves on working with you and your ideas to provide multiple opportunities to alter and adjust the design to your exact specifications. Next, and only after you’re completely satisfied with your design on paper, we typically proceed to print a wax model of your ring. This way, you are able to actually try on and “wear” your ring, helping to eliminate uncertainty understandably caused by not being comfortable visualizing and choosing a final design from sketches or photos. At this point, we are uniquely positioned to be able to continue to modify and customize your design because none of this work is done by others outside our store. Upon request, we can even “set” your choice of stone size and type into your wax model, so you gain a greater perspective, a more full effect, and real life experience.
Alternatively, in most typical custom design situations elsewhere, an outside CAD designer is often engaged to produce one design with limited modification opportunities at the most, along with only one wax model, perhaps two at the most. Many jewellers unfortunately don’t even offer wax model samples. Alternatively, we fully appreciate that, for such an important lifetime investment, sometimes it is impossible to know what is best until you not only see it, but actually experience your ring model multiple times with multiple alterations until you are finally settled on your perfect design. At Rodan Jewellers, it is not uncommon for us to produce many different CAD renderings and multiple wax models, providing you the advantage of hindsight to provide ultimate comfort and confidence that you’ve made your best and most informed choices and decisions, without pressure and with as much time as needed.
Once you are absolutely in love with your design and wax model, we finally produce your ring in your choice of material, whether it be white gold, yellow gold, rose gold or platinum. We work in any karat you prefer, 10K, 14K, 18K, or 19K. We work closely with you to educate about the various advantages and differences so you can make the most informed metal choice decision. If you so choose, you are also always welcome to come in and try on your actual ring before we set your chosen stone to provide even more confidence that we are achieving your perfect final custom design.
